Ozark M.1 Timber handlebar assembled wrong - need advice

Hi all, need some advice. I picked up an Ozark Trail Timber mountain bike online, and a guy from Angi assembled them. Unfortunately he had to do it while I wasn’t here.

After one ride something felt wrong, and I’m sure the handlebar assembly is put together wrong - the gear shifter is on the wrong side and upside down, and the handlebar just feels wrong. It sucks because I only bought these online because I never find the time to go to a second hand store. In the photos you can see the gear shifter numbers clearly upside down and on the wrong side compared to the image in the instructions.

What’s the right move here now? Is it worth it to go through the warranty and try to get it fixed by Walmart? Or would you try to fix it yourself? I’m a complete novice at this.
