"Delusion" a poem about the truth of my body.
Oh?
I'm ignoring reality?
My bad.
Is puberty vexillology?
This shit ain't about a flag,
But the body of a certain fag.
I don't care how you see me.
You don't gotta be me!
My whole damn BODY
is biological FACTS.
And none of it gives a FUCK
about your feelings!
You wanna talk biology?
Fine.
My panties smell like pussy
Btw, if anyone is unaware, "vexillology" is the study of flags.
The piece is more a spoken word than page poem, but I figured I'd post it anyway because I'm proud of it. First piece I wrote after re-finding my voice. 💜
"im sry", A poem about transfeminine grief [CW: dysphoria, essentialism, dissociation.]
im sry:
I'm told I should listen to my genes.
That my truth is written there.
A prophecy written in A, T, C, and G
But if I read them, what I'd see is S-R-Y.
SRY. You won't get to be a little girl.
SRY. You'll feel pain you won't even understand.
SRY. You'll never be a mother.
SRY, your body will feel alien.
SRY, I'm going to wreck your adolescence
SRY, for 15 years of dissociation.
SRY, for the evenings spent alone in the corner of a bar.
SRY, for the sleepless nights feeling like a freak.
SRY for the mornings you can't look up at the mirror.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Sorry.
I don't see an assembly manual,
but an apology
written in my genome.
Curious what people think, especially as I'm not very practiced at poetry. I'm returning to it after about a decade, and this is my third piece since starting my transition.
Also, I'm considering cutting the last three lines?
