HOIR While on Travel Status?
Hi there, I am posting from an alt account as to not dox myself.
I am a cook with the federal government who while working is on travel status. Long story short, I tweaked my leg at the gym in my off hours. I dont believe it to be serious and I havent missed any time as a result of my injury or requested any special accommodations.
I mentioned my sore knee to one of my managers and they told me I should fill out an HOIR form and to document the injury, just in case it ends up being more serious in the long run. He also said that because I'm on travel status, even injuries in my off time apply.
On one hand, I do want to protect myself and cover my bases, but also, when I look at the form, I struggle to fill out most of the boxes. It is a fluke injury and I dont know what sort of corrective measures to suggest. And honestly, I cringe a bit at this form being presented to my health and safety committee and what they might say about me and this situation as it doesnt really feel like something they should deal with.
What are your thoughts? Does the travel status come into play for injuries not related to work? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.
