ISO: open door Seeking Persephone
I just watched the series, I haven’t read the book. Some of the costuming and directing choices were so/so, but I thought the acting was delightful. Side note, is the “mutilated face” in the room with us?? Apart from the unfortunate haircut, that’s an objectively gorgeous man.
I’ve been ripping through books that are similar (The Beast of Beswick, The Duchess Deal, The Duke she married) but none are quite hitting the same tone, though The Duke She Married is very close. In Seeking Persephone, I love that Adam is tortured, grumpy and won’t look at her, but also so sweet. I feel like the actor did an incredible job of showing Adam’s internal struggle with loving Persephone but convincing himself she could never love him and thinking she deserved better. But he also couldn’t help but be drawn to her. I love the yearning, the hand flexing, the almost touching, but also want eventual open door pleeeeeease.
