NC Duke Energy Wise Program
Sorry for this long post.
We joined this program 2 years ago, with a new HVAC. In the last few weeks, our thermostat (and a/c?) turned off twice, then eventually came back on. The house was 80, unbearably hot. We closed blinds, turned on all fans, etc. Then a/c ran for hours to lower temp to 74. Savings? I doubt it.
Redditors suggested the thermostat problem might be this program, so I checked our statement. Yes, we had this program.
Today I successfully cancelled it (after going through a menu last night, learning today Duke understood we wanted all electricity disconnected. I had to speak to a human. We’ll keep our electricity!)
I called back, asked for customer service, got transferred by a kind agent to EnergyWise after 15-20 minutes. But got connected.
Unenrolling from their program is hard, not an option given on menus.
