What causes concrete balcony pop outs and how to fix?
Located in Canada, balcony was poured in march 2025, I noticed during this past winter small popouts, and it got worse during the spring. I assume it’s related to freeze-thaw?
We used calcium chloride early in the winter, but stoped once I saw popouts. It propably didn’t help.
It’s hard to see on the photo but it seems like almost all the chunks lifted over an aggregate.
Also, this spot was almost always wet or iced during winter with how the sun hit it and the metal roof right on top that was dripping on it.
Any ideas on the most propable cause and how to properly fix this?
