Will schools hire me with my license application in progress?
Hello! I am a high school PE teacher and coach that has lost job security in my current district. For background I work in a large out of state district that did mass hiring just a year ago and is now doing mass layoffs. Everything has changed drastically in a year. It’s become apparent to me that my job is at risk. In this district the first to go is the newest to the district. It’s based purely off seniority within the district. I’ve only been here a year and I’ve been informed my department is over staffed.
I applied for my Texas teaching license because my plan was always to move to Texas after next school year. I have submitted everything and it is waiting review. With these new changes I’m wanting to apply and move this summer
My question: can I apply to schools even though I don’t fully have my Texas license yet? I hold my license in Colorado and Nevada and don’t suspect any issues with getting my license in Texas. For my previous jobs I was able to apply before my license was officially given to me and given a job offer both times.
