Google offer accepted!

Taking a break from my homework to share my story a little bit and to tell everyone I accepted a position at Google!

I’m a career changer. Came from doing construction and telecom work. 36 yrs old. I decided I wanted change and to get off the road working so I went to school to finish my degree, but chose cloud computing and network engineering at WGU in 2024.

It’s changed my life. Ever since returning to school, I’ve worked projects for Microsoft, K-love radio and FTE for Coreweave as a tech.

Anything is possible and don’t give up. Keep grinding g and pushing yourself and putting yourself out there. Keep growing and don’t ever give up. Good things will come. Don’t be afraid of taking some contract work. That’s what I did and it’s paid off.

Now I am a level 2 tech for Google on the network side I believe. Never thought I’d say that ever.

Hello everyone! As you can see from the picture, I had a medical procedure done. I had back surgery and for the last 8 months I could barely walk or stand and the pain was horrible. Doing school work had been hard but I have been pushing through it all. I am finally healed up and have passed two courses in a month.

I am starting Linux essential and these certs really slow me down. I have about 7 weeks to finish this and another course so I need help getting this passed fast.

What material would you recommend I use to study? Videos? Practice exams?

Thanks in advance.

So I am interviewing for a level 3 technician role at the end of this month for AWS in Oregon and I am wondering if the pay scale has any flexibility to it? The recruiter says it tops out at 30 for this level, but I am hoping during the interview I can do a little bit better than that.

Currently at Coreweave and am happy there and my wage is a lot more, but this gets me a lot closer to being back home in Washington. So that’s why I am entertaining this.
