TV Audio Setup

Hey friends,

I currently own a 2.1 8010 + 7040 system for my modest home theater setup. to feed the audio to the speakers, i use a very simple HDMI audio extractor that has 2 RCA outs and feed those directly into the 7040.
My plan is to upgrade the setup with a 2.1 8320+7350 system and calibrate it with GLM.
My question would be, if there are any major flaws in my system which i should iron out, probably mainly how i get the signal to the speakers. And if there would be gains to have, what would be the best way.
Another question regarding the GLM would be: Am I correct in understanding that i calibrate the speakers once with a laptop, then afterwards i can disconnect everything and the calibration will be saved until i change it/reset it?
