Dolls and music box
I’ve seen a few people ask what caused Dolls to attack after being dormant. Somebody would have had to tie them underwater and how did they do that? I think it would be dumb if somehow the ropes worked but not rocks. It’s also not Ethan’s dreaming like people have said. The cicadas come alive after Sarah’s brother dies. That was his nightmare and she told us she thinks the place manifests people’s worst nightmares AFTER they die. This happened with the dolls, they come after the guy dies according to Tabitha. So, it’s not Ethan just dreaming of them
I think more than likely it was the song we hear before one crashes through the cabin. This is the same mechanic as the music box. It played then the ballerina shows up. The music box is what unlocked it. Now, who sung that song and has a nice voice? My guess would be Eloise. We already thought she lived out there. If she knows how to kill them, maybe they don’t mess with her. Same way they turn away from Tabitha after she kills one. Also, this is what the creatures do when Boyd “killed” smiley.
