The "Dubai is safe" narrative is broken once again...
I’m actually a big fan of Dubai, and as a Western expat I genuinely want to invest here. I have around $1 million that I could put into property, but the longer this war drags on, the more hesitant I become.
Why would I put my hard-earned money into a market where missiles are being fired towards the country, residents are being told to seek shelter, rents and prices have already taken a hit, and I don’t feel I can get a completely transparent picture of what is actually happening because of the limits on independent media?
I’m not saying Dubai is doomed or that people should panic... far from it. I’m asking a much simpler question: is it sensible to pretend none of this matters?
I keep seeing people on here saying “Dubai is perfectly safe, nothing to worry about,” but if I’m investing $1m, I want somewhere that feels safe, stable and transparent.
For the first time, I’m seriously considering just keeping the money out of Dubai until this conflict is over and there is more clarity. And I suspect there are plenty of other investors quietly thinking the same thing.
