How to become good in statistics?

I’m a student from a small town in a backwards developing country , the education system is horrible. I’ve been recommended Saylor Academy, that's how I understand many statistics principles, and I’ve also started reading elementary statistics by Allan g. Bluman.

Still, I often feel far behind students from better educational systems. My goal is to become one of the greatest econometrician in my country.

For those who are in the field, what resources would you recommend? Textbooks, courses, math/stats, programming, or anything else you think is essential.

I’m willing to put in the years—I just want to make sure I’m learning the right things in the right order.

I have finished my college level statistics coursework and I can't even read the national statistics report I have to use AI to analyze it for me whenever I have to do research. I feel illiterate and slow.

Should I move to the city?

(thanks to the great advyices I have decidedto make my jump) Currently I am a recent senior in a university in SiemReap. Just visiting my young sibling and cousin who studies in health care here in Phnom Penh. My first time exploring here as an adult. I feel like a fish gets thrown out into the ocean, I missed out on a lot of things, there seem to be a lot more things to do here ,Tall building more places to go , plus there is an Olympic stadium near where my siblings live which means there is a public pool nearby and I love swimming ,tons of people here as well naturally.

I feel more independent living away from my parents and feel more like an adult. Plus I get to look out for my young sibling and cousin too.

I really want to work in data and there seem to be more job openings for junior roles. Or opportunities to get an internship in an international institute like World Bank, KPMG etc...

I have been here for 4 days and honestly I love it here. The thing is that wasn't my plans I want to finish my BA in siemreap and get a master scholarship in statistics abroad and go work in an international institution.

Another thing is I took the BA in business administration but I have never really liked it I love Economics major , the only subject where I happily self learn and read many books , I love history , geopolitics, social stratification and the relation of the distribution of wealth and power throughout history. And I took business administration because there just weren't many major choices in SR. So now I want to take some extra courses and transfer it to economics Major.

So my question is, is it smart to lose over 5-8 courses ( equivalent to 25% of the total course workz for a major) to change Major or is it a waste of time and money?

And do you think my plans are worth it or am I just in a state of the classic teen-frenzy being in the city for just a couple of days and wanting to move in?

Thank you in advance (fyi I posted in fb)

Advice needed on buying a laptop as a student working toward data science/statistics field

Hello I would like some advice. I want to buy a laptop model "Lenovo ThinkPad T14 AMD" On the official page it is around 1.2k, I decided to buy a second-hand and in khmer24 a lot of the second hand for the model is only around $375. How does that happen?

I am not a tech savvy person. I bought a laptop for $400 once and it battery gone dead and lagging within a year which was too bad coz I'm a broke college student.

I am a student trying to get into the data science/statistics heavy field I don't really care for flashiness I just want a solid laptop that last long , fast and big enough to be able to handle big data.

Any recommendations of places to buy in Phnom Penh or siemreap? or other model recommendation? What to look for in a second hand laptop? Budget is under 1,000$

Thanks in advance
