What Can I Do to Help?

Hey everyone. This sub has been popping up on my feed a lot, and ive been absorbing the information and also fact checking and such. I'm at a point where I feel like I need to say something.

Location: South Arkansas USA

I am 25F. Legally blind/disabled. I cannot drive a car due to my visual impairment, and the closest Walmart is a 22 minute walk away. Doesn't sound so bad at first, but there are some sections of the road that does not have a sidewalk and I really dont feel like being run over.

When I am unable to attain rides, I rely on the Walmart delivery system for medications, groceries, etc. I dont use it super often but when I do it is almost always essential, especially if I know I'm not gonna get a ride anytime soon.

Ive seen a lot of the bs drivers are put through. Large orders, low tips. High mileage, little reward.

I think the lowest ive ever tipped is $5 for an order of 3 items and a distance of 1 mile. The most I have tipped is $20 for the same distance, maybe 15 or so items, mainly because the city was cutting down some trees on the property and I felt bad for whatever roundabout way my driver had to go through to deliver. I started the order with a tip of $10 and then once it was delivered and I chatted with the driver for a sec I doubled it in appreciation.

Basically thats my situation. My monthly income is tight, but I always try to hover around 15-20% of the total and keeping an eye on gas prices to add to the tip total.

I'm wondering what else I can do to support drivers. I rely on this service more than the average individual and I want to do everything I can to support drivers in my area. I would love to tip more, but sometimes my budget does not allow it, though I wont use the service unless I am able to tip at least 15%. Is there anything else I can do?

I hope some drivers see this and know there are some consumers like me who really appreciate the service you provide. There have been times I would not have been able to make food last the week without doing a delivery. You guys have really helped me out of some tight spots, and I want to do the same for you.

Please let me know what I can do to support drivers in my area, and I'll start working on what I can.

Have a good day!
