A day in the life of the Ketsukane family:

Sometimes Ceroba gets so caught up in the process of making something that she doesn't notice how quickly time flies, and she forgets to make herself something or even drink coffee. Clover notices this and periodically prepares food herself and brings it to Ceroba's workshop. Although the taste isn't as good as Ceroba's, Ceroba appreciates Clover's thoughtfulness.

CEROBA KETSUKANE

It was the turn of the one who became not just a friend, but a mother to Clover in Underground.

Note:

The first design is current, the second is old

___________________________________________________________

Name: Ceroba Ketsukane

Age: 48 years old

Type: Monster

Appearance:

Ceroba is a very tall woman, 212 centimeters tall, with an athletic build, red eyes and long, golden-red hair.

Information:

Ceroba was the wife of the late Chujin Ketsukane and the mother of Kanako Ketsukane, who is currently in the laboratory. She previously made an attempt on Clover's soul in order to save her daughter and continue her studies in order to continue Chujin's legacy. When she was defeated, she was already ready to be killed. Clover saw her sin and almost died in battle with her. However, what Ceroba couldn't expect was that Clover would spare her life. And he didn’t just spare. Clover simply silently walked up and hugged her, thereby understanding her actions and that he did not hold a grudge against her.

When the staging of Clover's death was successful, it was time to choose who would be the best place for Clover to hide. After what happened, Ceroba did not have the best opinion of herself. She took advantage of Clover's trust, deceived her friends, attacked Starlo and Martlet, and tried to kill Clover. After all this, Ceroba was sure that Clover would be better off with others. However, the facts said otherwise. Of all the available options, Ceroba was the least suspected of hiding a human, she has a secret room at home, and she has experience in dealing with children. Although she was against it at first, in the end she could not deny all the prevailing facts.

From that very moment, Ceroba began to look after Clover. She cooked his food, took care of his clothes and sewed some of his clothes herself, sometimes taught Clover self-defense and began to educate him. She taught him to read, write, taught him mathematics as much as she knew, so she also had to study a little algebra, geometry, etc. She took on this responsibility with full responsibility, not easily because she felt guilty, but also because she was grateful to Clover for his trust and considered him her friend. However, something began to change in her attitude towards him.

So days, weeks, months passed. Two years later, Ceroba's behavior began to show its first strangeness: She began to monitor Clover's activities more and more often. She became increasingly irritated when he stayed out for walks and returned home late, or when he left the Dunes. She grew increasingly angry when Clover did something "reckless," in her opinion, and so on. Clover reacted equally irritably to her overprotectiveness, and they would occasionally quarrel. This continued over and over again until that very day came.

Four years after Clover entered the Underground, he, playing the role of a “noble bandit,” accidentally crossed paths with Captain Undyne of the Royal Guard. Although Undyne did not know that there was a human under the mask, she still tried to catch him as a troublemaker. Ultimately, Clover managed to escape from Undyne into the Dunes.

When Ceroba found out about this, she fell into an indescribable rage; she gave Clover such a scandal as they had never had before. She began accusing Clover of being reckless, of not taking the fact that he could get caught at all seriously, etc. After this incident, Clover and Ceroba did not speak for a very long time. Clover still lived in Ceroba's house, and she, in turn, continued to cook his food and take care of his things, but not only did they not talk, they tried not to see eye to eye. Their friends began to notice this behavior on their part. Starlo and Martlet noticed that Clover and Ceroba were depressed, they did not want to talk about anything if it concerned their condition, they hardly reacted to them, etc.

Eventually, when they had both calmed down and could no longer endure the oppressive silence, they spoke to each other for the first time.

During the conversation, Ceroba admitted that even she did not immediately notice the changes in her character. At first, she really considered Clover her friend, but over time this concept began to blur very much, every day she got more and more used to Clover and learned much more about him. Then she began to become attached to him. She was really interested in what Clover was interested in, she was pleased when Clover liked her food or gifts, felt joy when Clover succeeded in something, and even felt proud when Clover showed success in learning. She hadn't felt these feelings for a very long time. She didn't notice how very attached she became to Clover and how she began to worry very much about him.

She admitted that she was very afraid that “One random day, Clover will go for a walk, as usual, and will never return.”

The thought made her feel insanely paranoid and terrified. She was afraid of losing Clover the same way she once lost Kanako. Every time he left home, these thoughts awakened in her and she began to worry about Clover almost every minute.

She admitted she was deeply hurt and ashamed by what she said on the day of their argument.

She admitted she was deeply hurt and ashamed by what she said on the day of their argument.

Clover also admitted that every day spent in this house with Ceroba made his life better. He was grateful for her efforts in raising him, for the joyful and carefree way she spent time with him. She joked with him, was happy for him, and praised him. All of this evoked in Clover the feelings he had been deprived of on the Surface. Ceroba finally made Clover feel like a child and provided him with a pleasant childhood. He became deeply attached to Ceroba, and deep down, he understood why Ceroba had been angry with him before.

He confessed to her that he barely remembered his real mother's face, and whenever he tried to remember her, Ceroba's image appeared in his mind.

From that day on, Ceroba officially adopted Clover and promised him she would no longer restrict him and would do everything possible to make Clover happy. Clover, in turn, promised her he would no longer commit reckless acts and that, as a son, he would do everything possible to make her proud.

Some time later, Ceroba, on Clover's recommendation, opened her own handicrafts shop and resumed working out to overcome her alcoholism. She succeeded, though she did indulge in drinking on holidays and didn't hold back.

She still waits and hopes that Kanako will recover and finally return home so Kanako can meet her new brother and that they can live as a happy family.

Clover Design Evolution

You'll notice not only the changes in the design, but also the evolution of my drawing style. I did the last drawing relatively recently.

Note: Since English is not my native language and I didn't have a particularly good grasp of it before, I used a less-than-perfect machine translator. In the second drawing, which contains outdated character information, I may have made some serious errors, including pronoun errors.

Clover Ketsukane

And the first character I'll show you is probably him—the well-known Clover.

I developed his design and image first. I still have the very first prototypes of his design from two years ago on physical paper, after which I switched to digital format and spent the first half of the time drawing with a mouse. When I got a graphics tablet, I took up his design full-time.

You'll notice not only the changes in the design, but also the evolution of my drawing style. I did the last drawing relatively recently.

Below is a brief overview. Some facts will be added over time:

________________________________________________________________________

Name: Clover Ketsukane

Age: 20

Species: Human

Appearance:

Clover is a tall man, 187 centimeters tall, with an athletic build, golden-yellow eyes, and long, brown hair.

Information:

Very little is known about his childhood, and he's reluctant to share it with anyone. Only a few people close to him know what he went through and why he descended into the Underground in the first place. All that's known is that he escaped from an orphanage.

Clover is the sixth human to fall into the Underground. In the original story, he decides to sacrifice his soul to give the monsters a chance to escape their eternal imprisonment. However, in this story, Clover makes a different decision: to wait for the last human, the seventh, to fall and find a way to resolve the situation peacefully.

First, Clover faked his own death. According to the plan, the Martlet pursued Clover with the goal of capturing him. Along the way, she teams up with the Feisty Five, led by Starlo, and, having informed the main Royal Guard in advance, they intend to capture Clover in Hotland. However, the Royal Guard fails to arrive in time. During his escape, Clover slips and falls off a platform into lava. The only thing left is his old, charred hat. His soul was destroyed. At least, that's what the Martlet and the others said. In reality, he falls exactly where he planned. The Martlet manages to catch Clover and land him on a pre-planned ledge, where Ceroba was waiting to ensure Clover's safe fall. The Martlet then flies back up. Shocked by this failure, the Royal Guard is forced to believe that the sixth human has truly died.

Asgore is informed of this news, and he is sympathetic to the events. However, he ordered the Royal Guard to conduct a small investigation and keep an eye on Martlet and Starlo.

Once the staging was successful, Clover only had to choose where to hide:

Martlet—as sad as it was—was not a suitable choice. She was a member of the Royal Guard, and they knew where she lived. The Royal Guards would continue to visit her for some time, inquiring about the capture of the human. Martlet was young and not experienced enough to keep an eye on a child.

Starlo was in a similar situation. There were rumors and confirmations that Starlo had publicly revealed the human and even wanted to make him his right-hand man. The Royal Guard had far more questions for him. Asgore noticed his achievements, made his work official, and appointed him Marshal of Dune.

The only suitable option was Ceroba. Few had seen Ceroba interact with Clover. Almost everyone knew that Ceroba was the wife of Chujin, who was known to hate humanity. She had a suitable place where Clover could successfully hide for a while, a vast secret chamber beneath Ceroba's house.

Clover lived in the Underground for 10 years until the last of the seventh human fell.

During this time, he found not just friends, but a family who were able to give him everything he had been deprived of on the Surface.

Martlet became the older sister he never had. She always spent her free time happily with Clover and trained with him.

Starlo became the Uncle Clover never had. Clover periodically visited the Sunnyside family farm and helped Starlo with his work. He also trained with Starlo and his friends, and together with them, he participated in the life of the Wild East, taking on the role of the noble bandit "Westlight."

And so, four years after living with Ceroba, she became the mother he'd lost so early in life. In addition to the usual household chores, Ceroba took on the responsibility of ensuring Clover at least received a high school education. Clover helped Ceroba around the house and also encouraged her to open a handicraft shop.

However, Clover didn't waste his time in the dungeon. He meticulously studied the dungeon, its history, and its secrets. He also secretly took up Chujin's research, hoping to find a way to heal Kanako. How far he'd progressed in his research and search remains to be seen...
