Bear with me please, I'm kinda lonely lately and I don't have nobody to talk about this.

Well, a little bit of context about me I'm 25 yrs old.

No debt, still living with my parents.

My goal is to have a good income, and get my own place/things. Maybe open my own business in the future. Right now I'm just saving money.

My parents are letting me be in the house so I can save money.

I got out of college in 2024 as CS engineer. I've been working since then in this company, Where I also did an internship. So in years I'd say my experience is

1 year internship - 2023-2024

2 years working - 2024-present

My stack is mainly

* NET

* SQL SERVER

* ANGULAR v16

*.NET MAUI / React native (I've been learning expo and RN These months and trying to replicate what I made in MAUI into RN just as hobbie, but I have several apps in MAUI published in the Playstore)

So in order to frame my situation, I work in a company that produces steel, I'm in the IT department. I'm not an employee, I'm a "consultant" they use this term just to not hire you directly (I'm working through an external company for them). Good thing is you earn "good money" per month (at least is kinda good for my country and my town, Americans would spit his coffee I believe), but you don't have any other right that may you have it if you were a direct employee, such as

*Profit sharing (by law in my country every company should share a % of his earnings each year)

*Hospital care

*I don't recall but there are more things that you have right by being a direct employee.

As consultant the only "good thing"

*You win kinda more money monthly, but is tricky because you don't have any other rights. And usually all outsourcing companys make tax moves that affects you.

So, we're flooded in job here, and there is no rest, we need to be available 24/7 7/7 days of the week. Due to we create things that if something fail it may stop some processes that affect the business, meaning company loses money. Everyday they expect you to stay 2-3 extra hours without any extra pay (everyone does it, if you don't you're not committed, but many of them there are just licking the manager d, cuz they're just doing nothing)

My mainly concern is that I don't have anyone to learn from and my goals are to earn good money while being a good engineer so I can help my family, there are no seniors here that are up to the new stuff that is coming, when i arrived here the first time in my internship they were not using git, since then I managed to convince them to use azure, long story short, there are a lot of bad practices they've been doing and we still doing but we're trying to improve.

The past month my boss talk to me that there were talkings about hire me as a direct employee in this year, but I don't know if I should stay, I feel stuck, were stuck in deprecated versions of Angular/NET.

No glaze of implement AI or anything interesting. Many things are still 10 years behind.

The manager is a complete moron and my N+1 has his hands tied, also IT department doesn't have the credit that should have IMO, meaning salaries in this department are not good because ofc this company is not about software. But I have this feeling that i can improve things, play some game of thrones games and make the manager fired and my n+1 promoted so I can take the his position haha 😂.

Why I haven't left before

I didn't feel that I have the experience, to be honest land this job was hard, and other offers salaries that maybe I can be taken doesn't compare with my current one.

And with this AI stuff the competition is brutal.

Good things

*I got paid not bad (but I want moreeeeeeee)

*I can make decisions, and they listen to me, sometimes.

*All jobs are 40-50 minutes away from my home and the company has this corporate bus that doesn't charge us for taking us from home to the company, but if you miss it, you have to take the public bus that is awful and takes way more time (if you stay extra time you miss the bus and you have to use the public one)

* Maybe I can make changes with time if I become a direct employee, currently as externals we don't have voice. (Maybe I'm just delusional)

* You learn a lot about internal processes/Tasks of each department, in my POV you can easily jump to another position with better payment.

* Meet a lot of people, meetings with the CEO,COO,CFO and another people from the executive leadership. I mean, I think is a thing they know you, in my view it can help you to switch to another position in another department.

* Good boss but awful manager.

Bad ones

* Poor innovation

* Stuck in deprecated versions

* Poor management

* A lot of work

* High dependency of idiots

* No strict deadlines

* No seniors

* Poor practices (I'm trying to improve this one)

* Changes in production for poor ratios of time.

* Need to be available always.

* You need to wear safety gear even when you're in the office (jeans, boots, denim jacket) otherwise they won't let you in.

* 10 minute walk to get to the office from the main entrance. I sound like a little bitch in this point but is not enjoying to walk at 40°c/104F in the sun with jeans, boots, or raining. If you wanna buy any food or if you ask for an Uber eats, you need to walk to the main gate. You can get to the office in car but they won't let you in when you're external (my case), only employees.

So, got this feeling that if things doesn't go the way i expect if I become an employee, I can leave IT and move on another department and earn more. But now feels the right time to make this decision, or should I stay 1 year more and try to find another place.

Am i being a little bitch?
