My dad has withheld my $10k inheritance from my late-grandfather for almost 11 years. what do I do?
I (29F) just found out that my paternal grandfather had left my siblings and I $10k each when he passed away in Fall 2015 as an inheritance. I have not seen the will or know how it was worded. My father himself has not mentioned this to me at all, but he would have been the one to receive the money as it was his father that passed. I have not talked to my father about this yet and I am wondering if I should approach him about it or seek legal counsel first? I have strong reason to believe that my father would have put this money into an account that would gain interest over time. If so, am I also entitled to the gained interest in addition to the original amount?
What should I do?
Location: I am in Maryland, but my dad lives in PA (my grandfather also lived and passed in PA)
