Should I take a Physics GRE to apply to Applied Physics PhD programs?

Hi all,

I'm an international student at a US four-year institutional majoring in Physics and Computational Math. I'm interested in applying to Applied Physics programs in the US for a PhD to study photonics/optical devices.

I'm wondering if I should spend my time & money on the Physics GRE exam? My college is T120 national, and the physics department is very small, although we still have the most basic undergrad courses for a Physics major.
