Do we choose our mentors by reaching out to people we admire, asking questions, and building relationships intentionally?

Or do mentors choose us over time by noticing potential, investing in us naturally, and guiding us when the timing is right?

I’ve had moments where I looked for mentorship and nothing really clicked, but I’ve also had people unexpectedly guide me without me asking. It makes me wonder if the best mentor relationships are pursued or discovered organically.

For those who’ve had meaningful mentors, how did it happen for you? Did you seek them out, or did the relationship develop naturally?
