Non-hormonal birth control!
Wasn’t allowed to post in a different subreddit, but I think this is important to share!
I hope this helps at least someone. I (F21) use three methods of birth control; condoms, spermicide, and a diaphragm. (Not affiliated, just linked for reference!) My therapist recommended this method as she treats a ton of women who have bad reactions to hormonal bc. My insurance covered the diaphragm (out of pocket it’s about $80) and you no longer need to get fitted for one. My OB prescribed the diaphragm and although it was a little difficult to get it filled at my local pharmacy (most people think they’re ancient), I have loved it. I have autoimmune problems so hormonal birth control has fucked with me in the past (two different pills and an iud). The diaphragm will come with directions to put spermicide along the inside walls and insert it like a diva cup. For the spermicide, the only kind I can find are the prefilled applicators but they work just fine. I have found it stays put better and is way more comfortable than a diva cup, I don’t feel it at all, neither does my partner. Using all three together has been wonderful as I have a bit of an irregular cycle. This is a little difficult if you are still living with parents or don’t go alone to doctor’s appointments, but I think it’s all available online as well!
