I came across something weird on YouTube and I’m trying to figure out if anyone else has noticed this.
I saw a video for a pair of “new” smart glasses from another company, but the second I looked at them, they looked exactly like G2 glasses and R1 ring. Same design, same UI style, same features. At first I thought maybe it was just similar inspiration, but the more I watched, the more it felt like a straight-up rebrand/reseller.
I’m talking:
Identical everything
Same core features and functionality
Very similar (if not identical) app behavior/features
Even the packaging looked exactly the same
It didn’t feel like “inspired by”it felt like a copy/paste with a different name slapped on it.
I’m not trying to accuse anyone, because I know a lot of these products can come from the same manufacturers or OEM setups, especially in tech like smart glasses. But if that’s the case, it’d be interesting to know who’s actually behind the original design and who’s just reselling it.
Has anyone else seen this or knows what’s going on here?
Is this just normal in this space, or is this one company straight up cloning another, if so that’s crazy
