How to avoid the tret glow?

This might be an unpopular opinion here and I don’t mean to offend anyone, but I personally don’t think the tret glow/shine looks particularly good. To me it can look a bit unnatural or plasticky rather than like healthy youthful skin.

Does anyone have experience with how to avoid/ reduce it while still getting the benefits of tretinoin?

I recently started tretinoin (0.025%, 3x/week, sandwich method with moisturizer). So far I haven’t experienced any tret glow, and I’d like to keep it that way. I’m mainly using tretinoin for anti-aging since I’m already pretty happy with my skin overall, aside from a bit of acne
