Background: My daughter was born with a small birth defect where she didn't have hair follicles on a spot on her scalp. We've done some procedures to have that area removed and bring together the areas that do have follicles but due to the condition and the location (back of head) the hair in the surrounding area is thin and shorter compared to the top/front sides of her head. I'd say as much as about 3in. difference maybe even 4in. The area is so short and thin I cannot even cornrow it, let alone single braid. The hair around it is long enough to hide it with a ponytail though. Everyone keeps saying it'll catch up but she's nearly 4 and it has not caught up yet. What can I do to help fill this area in? I've tried hair bonnets to help with the rubbing but my daughter won't keep them on long and I've tried a silk pillowcase but she wants to use the one that matches her sheets cuz she wants to see the characters. I've black castor oil on her hair, coconut oil, other hair growth oils, and try to moisturize it as much as possible but I haven't found those 'it' products and that 'it' routine for my daughter's hair yet. Her hair is similar to mine: fine, but dense, probably like 4b (mine is 4a) mostly in texture. Takes some time for water to penetrate the hair but dries very quickly. Also similar to mine but water penetrates quicker than hers.
Any advice?
