Hello!!

I'm entirely unfamiliar with the world of operating systems (obviously I've *used* them, but idk how they work and how they change the experience of a device), and my girlfriend has recently suggested I migrate my personal laptop (Lenovo Legion Y545 PG0 currently running Windows on a 9th gen Intel core i5 and Nvidia GeForce gtx) to a linux-based platform/OS to improve my poor little laptop's capabilities (she currently struggles to run Minecraft). How strongly will this affect my user experience as someone who's only ever used windows? I'm perfectly willing to adjust if it will enhance my laptop's performance and usability.

She currently does well for the majority of her use (schoolwork, web surfing, etc), but, as mentioned, struggles with any game, despite being marketed as a gaming laptop (ik, ik, no laptop will be on the same level as a PC, but I needed a laptop for college and wanted something with the flexibility to do both and also be portable).

Thoughts??

Thank you in advance!! :]
