High school - My piano teacher asked me if I would like to join jazz band

Long story short I completed my piano teachers class in high school last year, I also completed book 1 of the Alfred piano book 101. Start of the new school year, she talked to me During class and asked me if I was willing to join jazz band as a pianist cause they were looking for one. Should I join it? I could take AP biology off my schedule and replace it with jazz band. I am taking AP physics so it won’t hurt my science credit. What should I do?

My goal at the end of the day is to get better at piano so I can play my favorite songs. Could either be classical or pop music

Can I take the same elective (Piano) twice in high school?

I’m going into my next school year and I’m trying to figure out my 4th-hour elective.

I already completed the Piano class at my high school, and I really enjoyed it. I’ve been practicing outside of school too, and I’d like to keep improving my piano skills. I’ve already finished the Alfred Piano 101 Book 1 material and would like to continue progressing into book 2.

Originally, I asked about taking Piano again, but my schedule ended up being changed and I was placed into Healthcare Professions for 4th hour instead which was my backup elective if my main ones were full.

Now I’m wondering if I can ask my counselor to switch me back into Piano, even though I’ve already taken the class once.

My schedule is already pretty packed with other classes, so I’d rather use my elective period for something I genuinely enjoy and find relaxing while still being productive.

I’m going to email my counselor to ask, but I wanted to see what other people think:

Has anyone been allowed to take the same elective class twice, specifically Piano? Is this usually allowed, or does it depend on the school?

I’m completely fine if the answer is no—I just want to know if it’s worth asking.

PS: I passed piano class with an A.

What’s the difference between Alfred adult all in one book 2 and the Alfred piano 101 book 2?

Which one progresses faster and which one teaches u more?

1 year piano progress question (Alfred book 2)

So basically im a teenager who recently completed Alfred piano 101 book 1 (group) at my high school and I was wondering how I should progress through my Alfred adult all in one book 2?

Currently I completed and played 9 pieces by memory this summer (I’m on page 28) and I’m planning on completing and finishing the book by the end of this school year (August 2026 - May 2027) I might finish earlier but who knows

My piano teacher at school thought me the basics of piano and basic music theory and made me remember piano pieces by memory and play them for her (at the late pages of the book) .

Since I completed her class, I think I can’t take it next year so I’m currently self learning book 2. I was wondering if I should remember and play the pieces by memory for every piece like what she said or other methods.

My weakness is the lack of motivation (I play like 1-3 hours per week) and I easily give up when I first glance at the sheet music and think nah I’m good im out of here, ima play it later. I didn’t have a problem like this cause my piano class it’s an hour long, 5 days a week for 10 months and it’s boring cause u don’t have your phone so I’m forced to practice 🤷.
But now it’s different cause I have my phone with me and there isn’t anyone who is forcing me to practice.

However since I know the basics and there’s YouTube videos of someone playing the pieces, I’m actually progressing a little faster than I did with Alfred book 1 if I say so myself.

The longest I spent on a piece was 4 days and that was when I was procrastinating. (La Bamba)

Also I think I’m an intermediate level I’m not really sure someone pls tell me :)

Piano procrastination advice

So basically I’m currently on the Alfred piano adult all in one book 2 self studying I have 1 year of piano experience with a teacher and I completed Alfred piano 101 book 1 with my teacher. I don’t have a teacher anymore cause I alr completed my piano class.

I’m currently on a piece and the melody is fast and there’s so many hand movements. I usually practice one set of page and then I just don’t play it anymore until like 1-2 days later.

So far I’ve completed 8 songs (pg 1-24) during this summer and I really want to and songs and progress through the book faster so I was wondering what are some ways to not procrastinate and actually have fun practicing piano. I know I can finish like 1 song in 2 days if I actually try cause back when I was on the first book, I did like 3 songs in a week for my piano grade. And i have high school in August so I have to balance my piano time and school time.

You should sync your animekai watch list and sync it with AniList or MyAnimeList. If the site ever shuts down or bugs out, you won’t lose everything you’ve watched or planned on watching it. It happened to people before on other websites and they lost their entire anime list. If I were you I would take my suggestion and go do it.

I’m a high school student and I am currently taking a piano class in my high school. I am almost done with the Alfred Piano 101 book 1. I want to continue learning piano at home during the summer without a piano teacher. What should I do? Should I buy the Alfred all in one book 2 instead? During the time I had piano class i learned about the fundamentals of piano and music theory (chords, reading sheet music, intervals, key signatures, etc). Basically what 1 year of learning piano gets you.
