Hey everyone,

I’m 23 and about to finish my accounting degree, and I’ve been seriously thinking about working remotely in the future and eventually becoming a digital nomad.
I know accounting isn’t the most common path I see mentioned here (compared to tech, freelancing, etc.), so I wanted to ask specifically:

Are any of you working in accounting, finance, or similar roles while living the digital nomad lifestyle?
What kind of roles actually allow this? (public accounting, private, freelance, etc.)

How long did it take you to go from entry-level to fully remote?

Is this something that realistically takes years of in-office experience first?

Right now I don’t have direct accounting experience yet, so I’m trying to figure out if I should:
just focus on getting any entry-level accounting job first, or
start aiming toward remote-friendly paths early (like certain roles, skills, or certifications)

I’m not expecting to go remote immediately, I just want to understand what a realistic path looks like from people actually doing it.

Would really appreciate any insight or experiences.
Thanks!
