How are you guys handling Wise transfers to Nepal without the bank drama?
For those of you sending money from abroad to your Nepali bank account via Wise, how do you manage it without constantly getting called in by the bank?
My situation: Wise sends through Standard Chartered, which then forwards to my local bank. The problem is Standard Chartered charges a flat $15 per transaction as an intermediary fee, which is painful on top of Wise's own fees.
But honestly, the bigger headache is the fear of the bank flagging my account and asking me to show up with documents every time. So I've been playing it safe and only sending $1,000 at a time just to avoid any attention, even though I could send more.
Questions for the community:
- How much are you typically sending per transfer? Have you ever been called by your bank?
- Is there a better method altogether that I'm missing?
Would love to hear how others are navigating this. Feels like there should be a cleaner way, but I haven't figured it out yet.
