I had a professor this past semester who I got along well with and spoke to outside of class a few times about career/life topics. She mentioned being open to writing recommendation letters in the future, but she’s leaving the university soon.

I found her Instagram account on my own (she never shared it publicly with the class & it’s a private account), and I was wondering: from a professor’s perspective, would it generally feel normal or uncomfortable if a former student followed you after the semester ended?

I’m mainly asking about professional boundaries and what is typically considered appropriate.
