Carpet Beetle Heat Treatment
I have been battling carpet beetles for over 15 years. They follow me everywhere I go and create holes in my clothes. I have done 4 heat treatments with exterminators but they have all failed because the exterminators lack familiarity with carpet beetles (they all specialize in bed bugs which love heat). So I am moving again, and doing a heat treatment, where I will do it. I bought a commercial grade bed bug heater and will turn a bedroom into a heat chamber and heat anything going into my new house in this room. Do you know exactly what temperature and what duration I need to heat? My plan is to heat a room for 125 F for 8-10 hours. I think the tricky thing is eggs because they take longer to kill. I have spoke to exterminators that recommend hitting 130F. If I do, do you know how long I would need to keep it at this temperature for all life cycles (especially the eggs) to die?
Also, do you know if carpet beetles like entering electronic devices? Any tips on how to kill carpet beetles inside electronics? I was thinking of putting my sensitive electronics, like laptop and iPads inside a plastic bag and putting Gentrol Point Source inside so that the released fumes will prohibit larvae from developing. Does this sound feasible?
I will be doing this next week, so appreciate if you could weigh in. Thanks
