2 weeks post op - physio appointment
I'm so frustrated I could cry.
I had my first physio appointment yesterday since L5/S1 microdiscectomy 2 weeks ago.
I've been really taking it easy - I've got 2 small kids but I've stayed at my parents' house to ensure no BLT, just maximum rest and recovery. Have been walking lots, doing the exercises that were given to me on discharge etc. I felt really happy with my recovery. Importantly no pins and needles or numbness, no pain.
I went to my physio appointment yesterday and I immediately didn't like the guy. He was almost mocking me for "protecting my back" so much. He said they're made to move, and bending was fine to pick thinks up etc as long as it's "intentional" and had me bend to pick something up.
When we were doing the exercises he asked me "what is making you stop there?" I said pressure, and that is where my body wants me to stop. He said "if you can't feel pain, keep going".
About 30 mins after walking out of that appointment my pins and needles were back 😩😩.
I've woken up this morning and they're worse. Back to pre-surgery levels. I'm so infuriated.
Before I call his office and put a complaint in about his ridiculous advice - can anyone tell me their experiences with physio post-op and if these symptoms are part of the healing process and will improve?
Sorry for the long post!
