Been on metformin and supplements for 3 weeks and feeling so much better!

I — 38F — was diagnosed with PCOS in my early 20s after being anovulatory for months. My symptoms had been relatively well-managed with diet and exercise (aside from difficulty losing weight and hirsutism) until I turned 35, which is when I gave birth to my second child and bombed my 1 hour glucose test and developed gestational hypertension.

5 weeks ago, I started taking inositol and berberine, as I began to suspect that my PCOS was a major culprit for my inability to lose weight, my worsening hirsutism, the persistent fat around my midsection, and my abnormal lipid panel despite diet and exercise. I added vitamin D, ashwaganda, and 500 mg metformin after my labs came back showing that my insulin levels were high and vitamin D levels were low. I already feel SO MUCH BETTER, guys. I feel less inflamed, I have so much more energy, and I’ve lost 6 pounds. My pants are getting loose and the food noise that I was constantly battling with is gone.

I’m annoyed that it took me so long to realize that my PCOS might be so badly affecting my health and am grateful that my PCP actually took me seriously when I expressed concerns that my PCOS might be causing my issues.
