My boyfriend and I recently arrived in Ireland, Dublin and we were walking to the bus stop. There were 3 boys aged 9-13 at the bus stop and one of them spilled milk on a bench. My boyfriend (has an American accent) asked the boy why he did it? It was so that people would sit down.

and then the horror began. This little boy started asking where my boyfriend was from, telling us to go home, saying "go back to America". Then he started asking where we were from. He said that he pays taxes (ridiculously) for people like us. He started shouting, calling us pigs, waving his arms and legs at my boyfriend. He said a lot of offensive things. We laughed in response because he was behaving terribly and there was no need to talk to such a provocateur.

is this normal behavior for children? what can we do in this case in Ireland? would it be appropriate to call the Garda?
