Chemical/VOC Smell in laundry room after roofers patched around dryer vent
The titles pretty much sums it up. I had roofers come out a couple days ago to fix a small leak which was around the dryer vent exhaust on the roof.
While they were up there I had the dryer running and came in to the laundry room and smelled a nail polish remover smell so I assumed lint or wires were burning.
I unhooked the dryer, took it apart, saw nothing wrong, cleaned out vent pipe with a drill brush that reached the roof and nothing.
It’s been 2 days and unless I run the dryer on fluff (blows air with no heat) constantly the room ends up smelling like this chemical smell with the dryer off. I’m wondering if it’s not from the sealant or tar on the roof curing? I haven’t run the dryer with heat since this happened.
Any ideas?
Edit: went up to roof and found a small piece of sealant hanging from the laundry room air vent and it smells exactly like the smell in the laundry room.
Unless they accidentally put some in the vent pipe itself I don’t see how the fumes could get into my house.
