Mallampati Score 4
So I went to A & E yesterday with very restricted breathing. A ENT checked my throat, said I has a mallampati score 4 with low soft palate, long uvula and largish tongue. Later he added a nasal camera to look down the throat and said my soft palate is going backward into the throat when inhaling and moving foward when exhaling restricting my mouthbreathing, nasal breathing not possible . This is so very distressing, After the camera test he said surgery Is maybe an option then hours later after consulting doctors said they cannot do anything and referred me back to the GP. So i am totally upset. Are there any surgeries that could be safe with this mallampati score? I am 90kg 170cm but on a strict low calorie diet in the hope i can reduce my breathing difficulties. The long drooping soft palate and palatal prolapse is making this tough even with cpap therapy. Any suggestions are welcome. i dont really want a tracostomy but i know its going this way. Can the throat muscles be strengthened enough through myofunctional therapy to improve mallampati score so i can then be candidate for surgery?
