Should a manufacturer build an in-house CAD team or outsource drafting work? We're three months behind.

We make stainless food processing equipment, and our one drafter is three months behind. Most of the backlog is fixtures, jigs, and small revisions. I'm stuck between hiring a second drafter and sending some work out.

My worry is an outside drafter won't know which dimensions need inspection. They might also miss a tolerance stack that our guys would catch. CAD/CAM Services is one US-based option I'm looking at for overflow. They quote by project though. That may not fit if the work never slows down.

How do you decide what stays in-house and what goes out?

Is this director a name now, or are we connecting dots after the fact?

I just watched DRIB after Sick of Myself came out. The fake energy drink promo made me go, “oh, he’s been at this for years.” Then I caught myself. That’s an easy way to make a career look planned.

In my opinion, Sick of Myself is a nasty little spiral. Dream Scenario turns an awkward guy into a public event. The Drama squeezes it all into one couple. They don’t feel like the same movie to me. The characters do keep getting stuck on how others see them, though.

For a while Kristoffer Borgli was just “the Dream Scenario guy” in my head. Now people talk like there’s a clear master plan. I’m not sure how much of that is hindsight.

When did he become someone you'd watch just for his name? And what ties the movies together?
