Laugavegur Trail mid June. Crazy or not!?
Hello all!
Laugavegur Trail has been in my bucket list for years and I finally have a week off mid June (12-20.06) when I could do it... but is trail even walkable that early? I know that hiking season for Laugavegur usually goes from July till September, but I have seen people doing it outside of 'peak' season as well. I reckon it all depends of weather and how the winter has been.
So basically, I know that Iceland is huge and it can depend from which part you are, but - how this winter and spring so far has been in Iceland? Colder or warmer than usual? How about snow this year - more, less or about the same as every year?
Plus any insight and forecasts from locals when F roads could be open to even reach trailhead in Landmannalaugar?
I'm somewhat experienced hiker and know what to expect from early season hikes, but does doing Laugavegur Trail mid June sounds crazy!? Even for locals?
Thanks a lot in advance and have a fantastic day/week/upcoming summer! :)
EDIT: my plan is to not use huts and sleep in tent in designated campspots.
