Just bought this slim double breasted peacoat which also happens to be my first one ever. From what I could gather it's hard to tailor the shoulders, which happens to be one of the main problem areas (I think) + the sleeves being a bit long. I know slimmer models are supposed to feel tighter around the shoulders and may limit movement. I feel it pulling in the back when I reach down to tie my shoes so I'm trying to be more conscious of my movements. I've been doing different tests and it feels somewhat comfortable but I notice the shoulders sticking up and the underarms/back pulling. Overall I'm pretty happy with it but I can't wear much underneath before it feels a bit too snug, and I get worried that the pulling is doing damage.
This coat comes at a higher price point so I don't want to do anything that may ruin it + avoiding expensive alterations would be preferred. However, I read that a tailor could insert a gusset and do some work on the lining to make it more comfortable. I've been wanting to reinforce the buttons anyways so I may have to bring it in.
What are your thoughts on the fit? Any tips on how to get a more comfortable wear (including tailoring) would be highly appreciated. Also keep in mind that I recently purchased it and it may take some wear for the natural fibers to reshape to my body.
