Insurance/New Roof Question (Midwest area)
I moved into a new house last summer and the roof is from 2010. For context, we’re in the Midwest so we see a good amount of snow, rain, occasional hail. We had a somewhat recent hailstorm come through and of course I had someone knock on my door.
I know I’m due for a new roof soon since it’s nearing the end of its life. I had them inspect my roof and check everything out. Turns out, I have a TON of hail damage. Nothing is leaking, but they marked dozens of spots and showed me some photos (although I can’t tell what’s bad damage). I also need new gutters since they have a few spots that leak, one downspout is detached from the siding, and they are nailed in which I guess isn’t up to code anymore.
My question is what should I expect if I go forward with this process? The deductible is 6.8k. My worry is that I’ll file a claim and it’s accepted, but my premium shoots up. Or even worse, they drop me. Curious to see if anyone has had experience similar to mine, or could share some thoughts/advice.
Note: I have farmers insurance (Foremost)
