Painting (pls help)
Hi, I’m not used to painting or drawing people (I mostly draw plants and animals or do 3d work) and I need help with this piece.
I wanted to make a painting of me (left) and my partner (right) as a gift for them but after finishing I’m feeling really self conscious and don’t know if it’s good enough for a gift or if it just looks like a kid drew it 😓
I used a reference photo to make it but I feel like it’s off. The main things I’m concerned with are:
•The eyes feel too goofy and like they don’t fit the style
•I’m not sure if I drew the chests correctly
•Idk if the color I used for their shirt is too close to their skin color
•The perspective seems off to me but I’m not sure how to fix
•The arms meld into each other, in the photo ref our arms are wrapped at the top but we were holding each other’s backs, I could try changing it to us wrapping our arms around each other’s shoulders but Idk if that would look more weird
Any help or advice would be appreciated along with whether I should attempt to remake it, adjust it, or toss it and make a different gift. Also I know it would be helpful for critique, but for privacy I don’t want to include the photo reference.
