Does writing a letter to expedite someone's visa actually work?

I am convinced (especially in our current political climate) that it does nothing but it is a request I get at least once a month esp for dying patients.

Dumping/no one wants to take their family home anymore

Anyone else feel like it is getting harder to get people to take their family home? No one wants to take family home but they also don't want to pay for an ALF or find viable solutions either? I am literally in the process of a court-ordered discharge for one case. Patient has been here over 200 days!

I know this shouldn't bother me

This shouldn't bother me but I kind of get irritated with some coworkers who always manage to get caught up with patients for a long time and get stuck on the phone for a long time and aren't able to put boundaries up but then run around like a chicken with their head cut off and then everyone thinks they are so dedicated and every SW should be like this when this is an absolute mess. Sorry might just be a me problem but I see so many people get caught up in things that really shouldn't be our problem and they set ridiculous precedents for the rest of us.

Behavioral contracts/Treatment agreeements

Is it just me, or are behavioral contracts and treatment agreements for inpatient useless? Nursing keeps consulting me to facilitate these when a patient treats them poorly. I am sorry this is happening to them but they also don't seem to do anything except serve as evidence that we discussed problems. I had one patient who we talked through the agreement with them and the team and then they go upset and refused to sign it...
