Opinion about Belgians

I – a 32-year-old man – have lived in Lanaken (Veldwezelt) all my life, and Maastricht feels like home, the true capital of Greater Limburg, even though on the map it belongs to the Netherlands. Many, if not all, Belgian Limburgers would agree with this.

I went to school with people from Maastricht, many of whom are still good friends. Even at 32, I still go out in Maastricht from time to time and, of course, I enjoy the cycling opportunities in the area and, like all Belgians, I go shopping in Maastricht. There are also many people from Maastricht living here and so far it’s just one big, happy family.

I sometimes wonder what people think of Belgians. Is there any distinction made between people from the provinces like different accents? Would you go out on a date with a Belgian, or is it automatically a no because of the accent?

Considering switching from daytime hours to shiftwork

Unlike everyone here showing off their "poor" pay, I make less than the median wage. I work in a dead-end job where I don't make that much and my knowledge is also too unlimited to grow in the company. I'm also done with the job itself.

32 years (single male) - almost 2400 euros netto - meal vouchers 10 euro a day worked. That's it.

I'm really considering switching to jobs where you work in shifts: weekend, night , holidays as it earns more.

I don't care that much what kind of job, however those working at the Colruyt or any retailer, those included that are also open in Sunday: what's your pay? Is it more or less?

Bus drivers for De Lijn get a decent pay, anyone who also switched to it?

Operators from industries, are your companies still recruiting?

I want to buy my own apartment and I even fear I would not be eligible for Vlaams Woningfonds, a service that enables mortgage for those who cannot afford a mortgage from a bank. To my surprise, wages too low can also be refused apparently...
