Okay so I’m in my first year right now at DY Patil College Belapur and I just need to vent because this has genuinely been one of the worst decisions I’ve made.

First off — the administrative staff is an absolute nightmare. They’re rude, unhelpful, and straight up confusing. They’ll tell you to do something, you’ll do it, and then suddenly it “doesn’t count” or “wasn’t required.” You’ll be waiting around for HOURS just to get basic stuff done. Nobody talks to you properly, and half the time you leave more confused than when you came.

The HOD is honestly scary. Like, she has built this whole wall around her — completely unapproachable. You can’t go to her with ideas, doubts, or anything. And if you want to talk to the director? Forget it. You HAVE to go through her first, which basically makes the director inaccessible.

Security? Basically non-existent. There’s maybe one guard (and even they’re rude), no proper ID checks, and most days I don’t even see anyone. CCTV is only in “important” areas like admin floors and library. Classrooms? Hallways? Exam halls? NOTHING. You can literally cheat easily, and if your stuff gets stolen, it’s gone. No way to track anything.

The campus itself is TINY. Like actually tiny. One building, one parking lot, one canteen. No ground, no space to chill. And they’ll give you random 2–3 hour gaps between lectures with absolutely NOTHING to do. I travel from Mira Road, so imagine wasting hours just sitting around doing nothing.

Academics are not great either. Most teachers just read off PPTs. No real explanation, no interaction, no guidance. Even in PBL or practical subjects, there’s barely any support. You can’t build connections with faculty, and honestly it feels like nobody cares.

And don’t even get me started on practicals — they put like 7–8 people in ONE group. How the hell are you supposed to actually learn an experiment like that? Then in exams, you’re expected to perform everything individually. It makes zero sense. There’s poor equipment access, overcrowding, and no proper hands-on experience.

Canteen hygiene is straight up disgusting. I’ve literally seen a mouse running behind the counter. Tables are sticky, floors are black with dirt, and everything just feels gross. I avoid eating there completely.

Overall, the place feels unorganized, unhygienic, and unmotivating. Even if infrastructure or faculty had SOME positives, I might’ve recommended it — but right now, it’s just bad in almost every aspect.

I honestly can’t wait to graduate and leave. If I had the option, I would’ve transferred after first year. If you’re considering this college for biotechnology — PLEASE think twice. Go literally anywhere else if you can.

Just my experience, but yeah… it’s been pretty fucked.
