A demon talked to us through a light. I caught it on video (YOUTUBE LINK AT END OF STORY)

This begins in winter of 2018. My mom, my sister and I lived with her boyfriend and his son who was around my age. Eventually my mom and her boyfriend got into a huge argument. And my mom moved us out of his house. We moved a few miles away into an older home. At the time I was obsessed with Sam and Colby's paranormal investigation videos. So when I found out the house was built in the late 1800's, with in the first week of living there. I already tried to claim the house was haunted. Even though I had no evidence of it being haunted. I just wanted something to happen, since I thought those YouTube videos were extremely interesting. Eventually my mom got back with her boyfriend, and I would tell both of them that I was seeing and hearing all of the stereotypical paranormal happenings. Of course they both called BS on it, and told me to stop trying to feed into that shit. I just remember trying to convince myself that I was seeing paranormal things happening, just because of my obsession with those YouTube videos.

The fall of 2018, it was my 12th birthday. And I had invited a bunch of my friends from school for a sleep over. I had invited them over with the preconceived notion that we were doing a "paranormal investigation" of my moms old house. This got all of my friends hyped up, because they too were also into those paranormal YouTube videos. So when they came over. We filmed our own "paranormal investigation" video. For the first few hours of the sleep over. We all just marched around the house calling out to "spirits". Although nothing was likely there. Now I was raised in a Christian household, and grew up in churches. But at this time in my life I was atheist. Probably just because of the bullshit I fed into online. So that night, when we couldn't get anything paranormal to happen. We decided to do a seance, which is basically a ritual. It was one we had seen them do in a Sam and Colby video. I'm not sure exactly how it went. But I remember my friends and I taking a baby doll. Surrounding it in salt and candles, filling it with dry rice, and stabbing it with a knife, while reading out some sort of scripture or something. Looking back at it, we had no idea how bad the thing we had just done was. But after we had completed the seance. Of course we just ran around the house freaking out. We just wanted to believe anything by this point. But nothing happened for a hour or two after.

Eventually we wanted to provoke a response. So while my mom and her boyfriend were gone picking up pizzas for us. We all set our phones up to record audio in my bedroom in the back of the house. We set a variety of items on my TV stand. One of those items being those small bells you see hockey fans ringing in the stands when there home team makes a goal. We called out to the "spirit", and gave it permission to enter the space, and touch any of the items we had set on the stand. We left my room, shut my door, and went into the living room. Intensely awaiting a response. After about 10 or 15 minutes. Nothing happened. At this time, everyone in the house was all in the living room. We had almost forgot we had left our phones in my room audio recording. After a few minutes we got side tracked talking amongst ourselves. Until we heard from my bedroom, a faint but very clear. *ring* *ring* *ring* *ring* *ring* . With a quick glance. We all looked at each other to confirm that everyone else heard the bell ring. And we rushed into my room to grab our phones and review the audio. We listened to the audio from my phone, since it was sitting closest to the bell. And sure enough, about 20 minutes into the recording. You hear it. *ring* *ring* *ring* *ring* *ring*. We freaked the fuck out for hours over it. And tried to tell my mom and her boyfriend. But my mom, being religious. Told us to stop fucking with that shit. And told me she didn't believe a word I said about what happened with the bell. For the rest of the sleep over, we talked about what we heard. But nothing else ended up happening that night.

The months following after the birthday sleep over. Things in the house actually started to feel uneasy. Like the vibe of the house changed. I didn't feel comfortable being home alone, or even just being in certain rooms alone. I always kind of had a feeling that I was being watched or observed. Was not a good feeling. At this point, things actually started to happen. They would always happen when I was either home alone, or just by myself. A few big instances I vividly remember, I was in my bedroom trying to go to sleep. When I literally watched my fucking closet doorknob twist, and then open all of the way. And no it wasn't just the "pressure" changing in the room from someone opening a window or another door. But it I physically saw the doorknob twist, unlatch itself and open. I would also notice random things in the house would go missing, and turn up without any reason or explanation. By summer of 2019 things got worse. At the time, my mom worked at a bed store. And she would have random weekdays off. So sometimes during the week I would be home alone. And sometimes she would be home with me. My sister had to go with my mom to work, since she was only 6 years old. And couldn't be left alone. (She had behavioral issues). But this specific summer morning. I woke up in my bedroom, and noticed I could hear my moms typical 90's and early 2000's R&B playing on the speaker in the kitchen, and I could hear her voice talking to someone. I figured she was on the phone. So I took my time waking up and getting out of bed. Expecting to round the corner out of my room and see my mom washing dishes, or making breakfast or something. When I rounded the corner. She was not there. I figured she had maybe walked to her bedroom, or went downstairs. So I checked both places. Nothing. I checked outside to see if her car was there. Nothing. She was at fucking work. And I swore on everything, I just heard her music playing, and her voice talking in the kitchen. I thought maybe my brain tricked me into hearing her speaking and moving around, since I was very used to hearing those specific sounds first thing in the morning, but either way I was freaked the fuck out. So I isolated myself in our sunny living room, and didn't leave it for anything all day until my mom came home from work. Toward the end of June, I was used to being home by myself all day. I would hear sounds through out the house all day long. But I would just continuously isolate myself in the living room until my mom was home. This was until one specific time. Mid day I had fallen asleep in the living room watching a movie. It was typical for my mom to come home on her hour lunch break and get some food from the house before returning back to work. So when I woke up, hearing her faint voice calling me from the back of the house where the bathroom was. I wasn't freaked out, as I knew she would come home for lunch every now and then. So I called out "what?" As I made my way to the back of the house where I heard her voice coming from. I rounded the sharp corner of the hallway. Just to see that the house was completely empty. I bolted to the back window in the kitchen to check if her car was there. She was still at work. Full sprint I ran back to the living room, and again. Didn't leave it all day.

I would always tell my mom and her boyfriend about every instance that happened. But it was kind of a Boy Who Cried Wolf kind of situation. They didn't believe me because I had lied and embellished things about the house before. And they were to the point, that they would both get very, very angry with me if I brought it up. So most times I wouldn't. It got to the point I refused to sleep in my room. And I would only want to sleep in the living room. This was because the area of the house my bedroom was in, had a weird impending feeling of dread and paranoia. And even more interestingly, my bedroom was 2ft away from the bathroom where we had preformed that seance on my 12th birthday the winter before. That summer, my moms boyfriend and his son, who was my age. Started staying the night with us often. His son Zach, would also see things happen sometimes. Although he wouldn't see things as much as I would. He would still see the occasional door pop open, or hear a sound when we were home by ourselves. He would also keep his mouth shut about it toward our parents, since he had seen them reprimand me when I would speak out about it. One night, while my moms boyfriend and his son was over. We had decided to bathe the cats in the bathroom. After we had got done bathing the cats, for only a few seconds. I was facing the open, dark doorway of my bedroom. While everyone else was busy wrangling the angry wet cats from the bath. I saw a rubber bouncy ball roll across the floor in my bedroom. Immediately I lost it. I told my moms boyfriend and his son. And pointed at the ball that was now sitting perfectly in the center of the room, right in our view. My moms boyfriend got pissed. He said "I thought me and you're mom told you to stop lying about that shit, you probably placed the ball there. Stop telling shit like that to the other kids to freak them out". So I stopped talking about it all together.

Although I would see things happen. Doors opening, sounds and voices when no one was home. I stopped telling my parents about it. By mid July, my moms boyfriends son Zach, my sister and I started hanging out with our upstairs neighbor Isabel, who was around our age. And one night we had Isabel over for a sleepover. Her mom came downstairs into our apartment to hang out with my mom for a little before going to sleep. She overheard us talking about our interest in investigating the paranormal. So she walked in the living room where all of us kids were. And told us a story about the large old mansion across the street from us. It was converted into office space for the school district. But it too, like our house. Was constructed in the late 1800's for a wealthy family that lived in the area. She told us that at night, after all of the office employees would leave. She could still see someone walking around on the 1st and 2nd floor late at night when there was no cars in the parking lot. To this day I'm not sure if she was bullshitting us. But we fed right into it. So we all grabbed our phones and went to investigate. It was late at night. Around 10 or 11. So it was super dark, and no one was working in the building. For a few hours we paced around the outside of the building, looking in and calling out to "spirits" trying to provoke a response. Of course, nothing. We made several laps around the outside of the building. I noticed there was a old light pole in the back, that was planted in the grass area in the rear of the building. It was a full sized 20 ft cracked wooden light pole with a shitty incandescent lightbulb in it, that kind of pulsed with the electricity. It had a low electrical hum to it. After several more laps around the building. We made our way back to where the light pole is. I was filming the whole thing. And I noticed that the light was much dimmer than it was from the last lap me made. So I freaked the fuck out, and pointed it out to Isabel, Zach and my sister. They went along with it. Even though it was pretty insignificant, since it was just a shitty light bulb that could have been going out. We fed into it. We then convinced Isabel to go touch the light pole. So she creeped toward it, while I was filming. Reached out. And touched it. As soon as her fingertips touched the old wooden pole. The light turned on. We panicked, and freaked out. After calming down, we thought maybe it was a coincidence. Maybe the shitty light bulb just randomly lit back up as soon as she touched it. So we had her go touch it again. We had her slowly creep back up to the light pole. Reach out and..... The light tuned off. Turned all the way off..... As soon as her hand touched it.... Off..... We ran about 30ft away from it screaming again. This time we were actually scared. Most of the time when we were "investigating" the paranormal. We would overreact on purpose because we wanted to invoke a response out of what ever nonexistent spirit we were trying to contact. But this time. We were terrified. Zach and I stood far away and collected our thoughts. First using logic. Thinking maybe the light was motion activated, or maybe had a touch pad on the bottom which activated the light. But that didn't make sense, based off of the age of the property. And the type of pole the light was on. It was one of those dilapidated wooden telephone poles. So no way it had any new motion activated technology on it.

Eventually we calmed the fuck down. And walked back over to the light pole to investigate. By this point. My phone was dead, and I couldn't record anymore. Which made no sense. I had over 70% when starting filming. Eventually I worked up the courage and walked over, touched it. Jumped up and down. Nothing. The light wouldn't turn back on. So we had Isabel walk back over and touch it. And the light pole turned on. We knew that it had to be paranormal. Isabel then proceeded to touch it about 4 or 5 more times. And every single time, without fail. The light would come on, and turn off. Sometimes when she would touch it and would walk away. It would turn back on by its self without her having to touch it again. We then, stupidly decided to call out to it. Whatever it was. We asked it one question to start. Just to test if what was happening was truly paranormal. We said "turn the light pole off if you can hear us". And without Isabel touching it, or even getting near it. The fucking light pole turned off. We again, panicked. We were all in disbelief in what we were witnessing. We asked it a few more questions like "are you controlling the light", and "do you want to continue talking to us". And every single time. We got a response within 60 seconds of asking. Now during this time in my life. Even though I was super into the paranormal investigation YouTube videos, I was still deep down a skeptic. So just to test and see if it was just turning on and off on a pattern. And we just so happened to be asking question during a slow light flickering pattern. We stopped asking questions just to see. And when we did. The light stayed on. Steadily stayed on. It gave me full goosebumps all the way down my back and into my legs. I knew I had to record this. So we all went back inside so I could charge my phone. And get the questioning on video.

We walked back across the street with my phone now at 20%, which was just enough to record for a few minutes, as I had shitty android that wouldn't record for long. We had Isabel touch it again. And of course, it turned off. This is the part that I regret even to this day. We decided to get back to asking questions. I wanted to figure out what it was, or who it was that was communicating to us through that light. So I asked it a few different questions like, "turn the light pole on if you lived in this house", "turn the light pole on if you live in our house", "turn the light pole on if you're a man" , and "turn the light pole on if you're a woman". All of those questions were asked back to back. And we got no response. The light didn't even flicker. Nothing. Just off. And I ended up cutting that out in the actual YouTube video, as I thought it was boring at the time. I was only 12 editing a YouTube video, so context was out the window for me. Since those questions we asked it generated absolutely zero response out of it. I decided to ask it one last question. Since it didn't reply to any of our questions about who it was, what it was, or where it lived. I said to it "turn the light pole in if you're a demon". Before I even finished saying the word 'demon'. The light turned all the way on. We took off. Me, Zach, my sister, and Isabel all high tailed it out of there all the way back across the street and into my moms house. In disbelief, we sat and reviewed all of the footage on my phone. Just to confirm we weren't over dramatizing it or anything. But sure enough, the light pole responded to only Isabel's touch, and turned on when I asked if it was a demon. We couldn't sleep that night. All of us were up well past 4 AM.

The months following this event. The vibe, or atmosphere of the house got worse. By this point I was almost 13. And around that age, its typical for kids to stop being scared of the dark, and stop being afraid to be left home alone. And for me that was true. At my dad's house I could be home alone any time of the day or night and be fine. But at my moms, it was a different story. I still felt as if something was observing me as I moved throughout the house. Especially if I was alone. But even if I was in the house with someone, that feeling was always faintly there. Furthermore, doors and strange sounds kept occurring in the house. And I still never mentioned it to my mom or her boyfriend, since they still told me to stop talking about it. They thought I was still lying. This was until new years day of 2020. I was now 13 years old. And we had new years day off of school. My paranoia in my moms house was to the point where I couldn't sleep in my room. Let alone even be in there. So my 7 year old sister and I shared a room. It was large room with two twin sized beds that were separated by couple of feet. That night, we went to bed early, since our first day of 2nd semester was tomorrow. Often times when we'd go to bed, my sister and I would play around kicking at each other, or hitting each other with pillows and what not. That night was no different. We played around for a little, smacking each other in the head with pillows a few times. That was it. Around 11:30 PM, I had just fallen asleep for only a few minutes when I woke up to hearing my sister crying. I was confused, so I sit up and ask what's wrong. She tells me the room is spinning and it wont stop. Immediately I thought back to hitting her with the pillow, and thought maybe I gave her a concussion. So I looked at her head with a light, and didn't see any swelling or anything. And although I was 13, I was still smart enough to shine a light in her eyes to check if her pupils would dilate. They didn't. This freaked me out. Because her pupils were fully dilated. Even after turning the room light on, her pupils stayed fully dilated. It was fucking scary looking. I tried my best to calm her down. I asked if her head hurt at all. And she told me "no the room just keeps spinning and talking to me". This scared the shit out of me. But again, nothing paranormal had crossed my mind yet. I thought it was something medical going on with her. But after literally 2 and a half hours of her bawling her eyes out, talking about how the room was spinning. I went and woke up my mom and her boyfriend. My mom came into the room and tried to calm her down. I told her how my sister had been crying and talking about the room spinning for almost 3 hours by this point. And my mom made her sit up, tried to get her to drink water. But she refused. After another 20 or 30 minutes of my mom being in there with her. She suddenly said we needed to take her to the hospital. So at 3 AM, we loaded up in the car and went to the hospital. The entire ride there, I sat in the backseat with my sister. And she just staired. Not out the window, or at the floor or something. She put her head back on the headrest and fucking staired at the back of the passenger seat with a blank face. Pupils fully dilated.

We arrived at the hospital, and they checked her in immediately, since my mom told them it was a potential brain injury. So they took her in. I believe they did an MRI on her, blood test, and cranial nerve examination. Kind of like the ones they give athletes that play heavy contact sports to check for cognitive damage. They found nothing. So while we waited for the doctor to come in the room to go over some paperwork with my mom. My moms boyfriend and I observed my sister. She was steadily staring at the clock on the wall in the room. My moms boyfriend got weirded out, and asked her what she was looking at. And she told us. "the animals, the creatures on the wall". So we looked at the wall thinking maybe it was one of those hospital rooms with fun stickers on the walls for kids. But the wall was blank. Just a white wall with a clock on it. I said to her "theirs nothing on the wall, and there's no animals anywhere in here". She ignored me. My moms boyfriend repeated what I said. She ignored him too. We both exchanged a partially weirded out and terrified glance with each other. Suddenly, my sister started talking to herself. But it was in gibberish, and it was very quiet. She was still staring at the clock. We asked who she was talking to. "the animals" she says, slightly under her breath with a hint of enthusiasm. We were actually scared as fuck. Then the doctor swung the door open. She went over test results and paperwork with my mom. And we all left and went home. Once home, we ate a quick snack that we had picked up at a 24hr McDonalds or something. We got my sister something too. But she didn't eat. Or even acknowledge the fact my mom had placed food down on the table for her. She went straight into our shared room, and went to sleep. While we ate our food at the table. We were all completely silent. None of us knew what was going on, or why my sister was acting like that. I finished my food, and went to bed. As I walked from the dinner table to the bedroom, that nights events replayed in my mind. And I started connecting dots. I thought back to what we had done on my 12th birthday, how things started happening in the house, and the light pole incident from just that past summer. with that the thought of demonic possession briefly crossed my mind, but quickly faded. I was exhausted. It was 4 AM by this point, and my body was begging me to go to sleep. My sister was knocked out sleeping. So I crawled into my bed, and tried to fall asleep. And I did. I was just on the edge of sleep. Until all of my arm hair stood on end, my hear rate increased, and my senses heightened. Suddenly I was fully awake. And overly aware of my surrounding. The box fan blowing drafts of wind into my face. The blanket subtly waving in the fans wind. The electrical hum of the fans motor. It was like my primal survival instincts all activated at once, without and specific reason. The paranoia was eating me alive. The room was dark. And I could only make out the shape of the closet doorframe, and the rough outline of the TV and TV stand. But I felt as if something very tall was standing directly over my bed, staring straight into my fucking eyes. I had an overbearing feeling of something other than my sister being present in the room with me. Something not. human. It was as if all of the ambient noise in the house went away as sheer terror filled my blood stream and my senses were overloaded by my environment. This is when I heard, clearly in my left ear. A voice speak to me. I don't know what it said, couldn't even tell you if it was speaking English. But it was a audible voice in my left ear. I could almost feel the breath of the voice hit the side of my head. My heart was beating so fast that I could feel it pulsing in my throat. Adrenaline hit. I full sprinted out of bed and into my moms room. And told her exactly what happened. Its pretty hard to fake real genuine fear. So when I described what had happened to my mom. She and her boyfriend finally believed me. She stood straight up out of bed, and said "I knew it". And walked into the our bedroom. By her saying "I knew it". Confirmed to me she too knew it was something demonic. She prayed over the room. And read a very specific scripture from the bible. And me being an atheist at the time. Didn't believe it was going to work. But my mom continued praying. And suddenly, I felt a relief. I felt as if what ever had been causing my paranoia had finally left. It was insane. I felt all of it go away immediately after my mom finished praying. And although in my head I was denying the existence of God the entire time. I couldn't deny that what ever had just spoken to me, and had been tormenting me for over a year now was completely gone. That night I slept the hardest I had ever slept in months. The next day, we asked my sister about the previous night. She had no recollection. Even to this day, she doesn't remember that night at all. My mom and I blessed the house. This was over 6 years ago. I'm now 19 and living in the upstairs apartment of the same house with my girlfriend. And I can say, to this day. I get no such feeling living in this house. And funny enough, due to what I would assume to be a "demonic" encounter. I am now a devout believer in Jesus Christ.

My take away:

Deep down, I believe what we experienced wasn't ghosts. I fully believe it was some form of demonic presents. I haven't done any research on it at all to figure out what exactly I had encountered. But I know what ever it was, its intentions were not good. I believe the house upon moving into it was not haunted or possessed by anything whatsoever. I believe that my naiveness as a young kid, doing that ritual with the baby doll, combined with my atheism. Invited demonic presents into my life. And it began making its self known only to me. That's why I think my parents and siblings wouldn't experience or see the small encounters I would have around the house. I do know demons lay dormant, and will gain strength over time. So I believe the light pole incident, and the sister spinning room incident was it making itself known to me and others around me. But I believe it was targeting me. That is my take away. And even if you're reading this and don't believe in God, or the bible or Demons and such. Stay safe. There is real evil in this world, and its easier to access then you think. God bless

(this is a link to the YouTube video I filmed about the light pole when I was 12, I ended up re-editing it when I was 13 and added scary music and effects because I wanted it to gain more traction on YouTube, so I attempted to make it more entertaining. There is a lot of things that I mentioned happening in this story that wasn't caught on camera because for over half of the light pole questioning and Isabel turning the light on and off by touching it, my phone was dead. But I did capture the key points with what little battery life I had) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCL89C4Y6t4&t=65s
