Turnitin flags my completely original history paper as AI and now my grade is locked
I am losing my mind over this. I spent three straight nights in the campus library working on a twelve page essay about the reconstruction era south. I dug through actual physical books because my professor hates web links. I typed every single word myself but after uploading it to Canvas I woke up to an email saying my paper has a forty five percent AI score on Turnitin. The professor locked my grade at a zero until I go to his office hours on Thursday.
I tried emailing him my Google Docs version history to show the actual timestamps of me typing it out paragraph by paragraph but he just sent a generic auto response about academic integrity. These automated detectors are absolute garbage. I ran my intro through two free sites and one said eighty percent human while the other said ninety percent AI . It makes no sense and I cannot risk failing this class because it is a major requirement.
I do not even know if it is worth arguing if he already made up his mind. I am seriously considering just paying someone to do my homework for me this time and rewrite the entire thing so it clears the software filter. If the university forces us to fight broken algorithms maybe bypassing the headache is the only option. Has anyone dealt with this and how did you handle the meeting.
