I love hearing about everyone's "off-line" lives BUT I know now everyone is a social butterfly like me 😄 SO I mentioned having a weekly OT thread to MP and she agreed it might be a fun thing to have!!! 😄 (IF it gets to crazy, we might have to make them more often than once/week... but we will start with one/week for now!)

Just a reminder. HRM MeMe has given us a LOT of absolutely infuriating content the last 2 days. And as usual? Most of it involves the children of course.

PLEASE remember to be cautious when talking about the children. It’s one thing to say something like “I’m disgusted she posted a video that has her 6yo son in a pull up!” (That’s placing snark/blame where snark/blame is due… on the parents for *posting a video with that in it).

But to say something like “Why is that child in a diaper at their age!?” is teetering to the forbidden territory of snarking on the child directly. (Not going to get into all the reasons some children wear pull-ups longer than others.) But a comment about *just the child, is where we have to be careful.

Other recent examples was the “modeling shoot” with HG. Same thing applies. To say it’s “terrible Jamie posted her daughter making suggestive faces” is ok but to say “<the child> is annoying” is not.

Sometime in the not too distant future, these children (and their peers) are going to start searching their name on the Internet and they’re going to find a LOT posted about themselves. Which in turn will mean they are going to be embarrassed / bullied / humiliated so badly.

I know … trust me … it’s a FINE line and I think I can speak for Mountain as well when I say I stare at some comments for a long time trying to decide what’s ok and what’s not because that line is SO fuzzy between snark parents / snark kids.

If she’d just take her children OFF her posts? Moderation would be so much easier!!!!! As would her children’s lives as preteens, teens, young adults, and adults. But since she won’t? We have to do OUR best to protect these children as best we can in our small space on the web!!!! :)
