Water leaking out hot water pipe on Washing Machine
I have an old house (1890s) and this past winter it got pretty brutally cold and one of the copper pipe caps (that capped off an unused intersection) on the hot water line to my washing machine came off. I shut that hot water line and everything looked good, the water stopped flowing and I am going to replace that cap so can get hot water to the washing machine again. My main question here though, is that i just noticed that whenever the washing machine is filling with cold water, cold water is coming back down through the hot water pipe and leaking from the missing cap. I'm worried that if I fix that cap and hook everything up, that the washing machine will overpressure the hot water line or something. Is this normal for the washing machine to somehow let water out the other unused inlet? im just so confused by this situation. can post pics if needed, but not sure what to post.. Thanks in advance!
