Do AI-Edited Product Photos Reduce Trust in Handmade Businesses?
Hello everyone! We are crochet artists from India, currently exploring different social media platforms to sell our handmade crochet products.
One thing I’m struggling with is deciding what kind of product photos work best for a handmade business like ours.
The first type of image is AI-enhanced, where the background and overall setup are edited to create a more aesthetic and professional look. The second type is a raw, natural photo clicked directly on my desk without much editing.
While AI-edited images look visually appealing, many people assumed that even the crochet product itself was AI-generated, which made the handmade aspect feel less authentic.
As customers, creators, or small business owners, what kind of product photos do you personally connect with more? How can we maintain an aesthetic feed while still making our products feel genuine, handmade, and trustworthy?
I would also love suggestions on how to attract more customers through social media while keeping the authenticity of handmade crochet alive.
