New Grad Offers

Need help deciding which job to move forward with as a new grad moving to NYC. Overall, I'm looking for a supportive team and something that will give me options for my career if I ever decide to relocate back home to CA or get bored and go into emergency medicine or primary care.

Job 1: Electrophysiology Hybrid IP/OP

PROS: Very supportive, well equipped to hire new grads, most senior PA is 20+ years, great work life balance.

CONS: Very specialized, 45-55 min commute to the bronx which is super far but doable.

-Rotating 4 days/week 9.5 hour shifts, no nights, no weekends, no call

-150K salary

-Great benefits, received verbal offer, awaiting contract, unionized so not much room to negotiate for extra perks.

Job 2: Hospitalist Observation Unit

PROS: Much more generalized, would be good to learn the bread & butter of medicine so I don't put all my eggs into one basket, 30 min commute to Queens

CONS: Most senior PA is 1 year, they recently hired a bunch of new grads and said there is good onboarding/attending support but this makes me hesitant, not sure if it's a red flag but I expressed my concerns and they were reassuring I would feel supported

-rotating 3 days/week 13/14 hour shifts, yes nights, yes weekends, yes call

-142K salary

-Scheduled for in-person interview, already passed 2 rounds. Have not discussed benefits.
