Tokyo best neighborhoods for first timers?
I’m planning a spring trip to Tokyo for my 14 year-old daughter, and I’m really stumped on where to stay. I’ve come to realize that when staying in a big city, the important factors is the neighborhood. I’m looking for someplace that will of course have great service and amenities but beyond that is located in a place where you can walk right out the door without a plan and become immersed in Japanese culture. My teen loves sushi and wants to see vending machines and things like that. We don’t need to be near temples or have nice views, but a place where we can walk right out the door and be immersed in the cultures what I’m struggling to find. We want to experience and explore more than see the sights.
For the second part of our trip, Kyoto, I’m looking for a Ryokan to give us a completely different and distinct experience of Japanese culture. Would love recommendations!
We typically stay at Rosewoods and boutique hotels that give a sense of place and value a high level of service.
