Regarding COMNAVRESFORNOTE 3500 (NRC Warfighter Support Policy)

(Before I start, I used the search function to make sure this wasn't already posted/discussed on this sub, and I did not find anything.)

I'm a AD-to-SELRES officer waiting to be gained by my local NRC. While I was looking up this year's drill schedules, I found this COMNAVRESFORNOTE from Jan 2026.

While there is nothing too significant or revelatory from this notice, I did find shocking how laboriously detailed and specific some of these directives were.

This document is telling (presumably) full-time/AD/TAR sailors at the NRC to show up to work physically, maintain regular working hours, wear the correct uniform, to set up out-of-office email replies, to return calls/emails within a prescribed window, and regularly update their website. Even from my AD time, most of my junior sailors were professional and responsible enough to not have to hear this kind of stuff from chiefs and officers.

Obviously, something like this wouldn't be put out unless there was adequate reason. But it does make me wonder though:

  • How bad were things at the NRCs for this to have been promulgated?

  • Have things gotten better since this notice?
