I've seen a lot of posts from people learning or teaching languages. If you're American and English is the only language you speak, Portuguese might seem difficult at first. But as someone who speaks other languages, I actually prefer Portuguese over Spanish.
I like the way it sounds, and a lot of the language just makes more sense to me. It's definitely not an easy language, but compared to languages like Russian, Bulgarian, Romanian, and others, I don't think Portuguese is that hard.
If you put enough time into learning it, you'll eventually reach a level where you can get by pretty comfortably.
At the end of the day, Portuguese just sounds better to me than Spanish, Italian, or French. I know that's subjective, but that's how I feel.
